The Cross Border Legal Network connects independent law firms from around the world, enabling referrals between members who need responsive international assistance for their clients’ affairs. Using the network, a member should have ready access to a law firm in another country that can assist on a client’s behalf.
Founded by Collyer Bristow in 2013 initially with a focus on dispute resolution, the network has grown over the past decade as member enthusiasm led to expanding referrals into various other legal areas, evolving into a successful full-service network covering most aspects of legal work.

Joining the Cross Border Legal Network
The network is expanding quickly and now includes members in over 45 countries, many of which are leading law firms. These firms range in size from those with 100+ lawyers to smaller practices, but all share a commitment to high-quality work over a range of legal matters.
The network operates on a one-member-per-country basis. Where we lack representation, we want to open discussions with reputable firms interested in joining. Firms are typically recommended by existing members, but we welcome applications from law firms keen to become active participants in the CBLN.
No membership or conference fees
Unlike most other international legal networks, there is no fee for membership of the CBLN nor for attending the annual conferences (which are widely attended but attendance is voluntary).
An active flow of referrals
The network does not oblige members to make referrals to each other, but enthusiasm for the network has led to a strong flow of referrals and informal assistance between members. For example, members may reach out for insights on local law, events, or connections that may assist in another jurisdiction. If a conflict of interest prevents a member from acting, they will promptly notify the referring member.
Access to high quality international advisers
Members of our legal network represent the highest standards of legal excellence, integrity, and professionalism. Each firm is selected based on its proven track record of success, deep expertise in its jurisdiction, and unwavering commitment to client service.
Referring a client to any member firm within our network means placing them in the hands of trusted legal professionals who operate with the utmost diligence and care. Clients can expect responsive communication, a deep understanding of local laws and global standards, and a collaborative approach that ensures seamless service across jurisdictions. The strength of our network lies in the trust and close relationships between member firms—providing a reliable, high-quality legal experience no matter where in the world a client’s needs arise.
Global Information exchange
Members highly value the annual conference, hosted each year by a different country, providing an opportunity to build direct relationships. While attendance is not mandatory, it attracts a large number of members. Additionally, regular video forums are held on topics of interest, each featuring a keynote presentation from a member. These forums, along with the conference, foster deeper connections between members through a discussion format, allowing extensive participation and the exchange of international perspectives, which is particularly valued.
The network has also introduced practice groups for various areas, bringing together international expertise on particular areas of law for exchanges of ideas, knowledge and best practice.
